The chair is of extreme antiquity and simplicity, although for many centuries and indeed for thousands of years it was an article of state and dignity rather than an article of ordinary use. It was not, in fact, until the 16th century that it became common anywhere. Since then and with the help of the Industrial Revolution, it might be considered one of the most designed object/product. Nowadays, chairs continue to captivate the imagination - even people who are not design aficionados love chairs. However, besides reviewing the design, ergonomics, colour and comfort, how many of the users pay attention to the materials these chairs are made of?
